Spontaniteten længe leve!

Onsdag aften:
Torsdag formiddag:
Wednesday evening:
I was getting closer to Cordóba. Thought it might be a good idea to book some accommodation. I never bothered doing that earlier on this trip, but Cordóba isn't exactly one of the small villages. I didnt have any luck finding a hotel room and I didn't want to stay in a hostel dormitory for 3 nights. Ended up booking a small apartment through airbnb. A bit pricey, but Cordóba has been on my bucket list for years.
Thursday morning:
I was wandering through countless numbers of olive trees, when a thought came up in my head. I called my folks and asked, if my mom would like to spend the weekend in Cordóba with me. She had no idea, that her phone was video. I could tell from the expression on her face, that she was ready for adventure. A few hours later and the flight was booked.
Friday:
I continued my hike, my mum jumped on a plane and we met in Cordóba just before dinner. Who ever said, that you need a long time between thought and action? We got ourselves installed in the little apartment and went sightseeing in the neighbourhood, starting out with the church next door. It was huge and had all the ornaments from a Catholic church. It also had a very wonderful patio, a courtyard. Filled up with flowers, beautiful and blooming. A lovely chilled place, despite the temperature had hit 30 degrees outside.
Saturday/Sunday:
We went on a guided tour, where we visited the castle (a mega mix of different cultures), we were in the Jewish quartes, saw the old synagogue, whose decoration was influenced by Arabic art. The last part of the tour was in the Mosque Cathedral, an impressive building. We visited the old Arab baths, once upon a time a huge bathing complex. We saw several beautiful courtyards, as there was a patio festival in town. An old cemetery was visited. Walked cross the Roman bridge, past by the old Arab water wheel, which brought water up to an aqueduct that supplied the Emir's palace with water. Ice creams were consumed, souvenirs were bought and several kilometers were walked.
Monday:
It was time to pack those bags and find our way to the railway station. Thank God we were arrived with plenty of time. It took almost 45 minutes to get a train ticket for my mum. She got on the train, I jumped in a taxi and headed out of town to continue my hike.
It was a wonderful Mother's Day weekend in Cordóba.
